Travel can be complicated enough, but Apple has provided small yet valuable tools that make planning a trip a little easier with an iPhone.

iPhone constantly adapts to its users, making everyday tasks easier and quicker, including traveling. Cell phone owners already benefit by having a camera, music player, and phone in one device, taking up virtually no space. The Apple Store offers many apps that can be used to plan a Hawaii vacation, but Apple also includes functions in the iPhone that will help before and during the trip.

Since the iPhone’s release in 2007, Apple has dedicated its brand to revolutionizing the user experience. With every update, developers bring dynamic capabilities to iOS that add just a touch of convenience to life. Siri, Apple’s Virtual Assistant, performs many tasks without the user even having to touch the phone. A suite of accessibility features is also available on Apple's iOS device. Apple seems adept at finding pain points and delivering better, more efficient solutions.

Apple knows that, more often than not, fliers share their flight information. Perhaps to send the details to other travelers or to keep family members updated on their safe arrival. It is easy for iPhone users to view flight details straight from their texts. The text will be underlined whenever a flight number is included in a message. An overview of the flight will appear after tapping the underlined text. The user can ‘Preview Flight’ or ‘Copy Flight Code’ from the pop-up. The 'Preview Flight' button opens a new window with airline, status, departure, and arrival information. It will even display baggage claim locations at the airport. Rather than googling, iPhone users can now locate this information with a tap.

Using Spotlight Search and Maps

Spotlight searches can also provide flight information. Swiping to the far right of the screen home screen will reveal the spotlight search. Just paste the flight number into the search bar at the top. Several results will be displayed. Tap on the entry that contains the flight schedule. This method will also show an option to ‘Open Maps’ at the bottom. When selected, the user can choose between the departure or arrival airport. Maps will load once an airport is selected. Aside from displaying the airport, the screen will also display information about the airport, such as food options. Click on any option; the map will show the airport's layout and tag the relevant location. By having the airport’s diagram readily available, getting lost will no longer become a problem.

Another travel hack from Maps is Guides. This tool allows users to organize specific travel destinations such as parks, tourist attractions, or theme parks. This list could include places already visited or planned to visit in the future. To create a Guide, tap on the profile icon in Maps. A menu will appear. Choose ‘Guides’ from the options. The screen will transition to a list of already created guides. To build a new one, tap the ‘+’ located at the bottom right corner. The individual can personalize their Guide using the image and name options. At the bottom of Map’s home screen, Apple offers curated Guides. While in an unfamiliar area, these Guides put together by Apple and third parties are a great way to find recommendations.

There are other iPhone features worth mentioning. Apple Wallet, for example, is a convenient way to store boarding passes. Furthermore, it is an excellent alternative to carrying every credit card owned. When visiting a country with an unfamiliar language, ask Siri to translate, and the AI can help break the language barrier. Updating iOS is essential, as Apple continuously releases new utilities to enhance the user's life. With plenty of ways to benefit from an iPhone while exploring the world, it's no wonder consumers are so loyal to the brand.
