A new leak suggests that Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphone will come with faster charging than its predecessor, and a tougher display.

A new leak suggests that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphone will come with faster charging and a tougher display when compared to its predecessor. The Z Fold 4 will be the successor to the Fold 3 that was launched late last year. Samsung is expected to launch the device at its next Galaxy Unpacked event on Aug. 10 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Rumors also suggest that the company could launch the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro on the same day.

Samsung's next-gen foldables have been the subject of much speculation over the past few weeks. A steady trickle of leaks have also seemingly revealed much of their design aspects and technical specifications, meaning Samsung would be hard pressed to announce anything overly surprising at its event next week. The good news, however, is that all the devices due to be announced at the event will reportedly ship with significant improvements over their predecessors in terms of hardware components, software features, and overall practicality.

According to tipster Ahmed Qwaider, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will offer Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front display as well as at the back. Victus+ is Corning's latest and greatest display protection technology, and was first seen on the Galaxy S22 series. The new display technology will also be an upgrade over the Z Fold 3 which shipped with the original Gorilla Glass Victus from 2020. Qwaider also claimed that the the Z Fold 4 will be able to charge faster despite sticking to the same 25W fast-charging as its predecessor. According to Qwaider, the Z Fold 4 will reach 0-50 percent charge in just 30 minutes, while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 charges up to 33 percent in the same time. This, despite both devices having the same 4,400mAh battery capacity.

Qwaider also confirmed a couple of other important aspects about the new phone. The device will reportedly be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and feature a 120Hz display panel with up to 1000 nits of maximum brightness. According to the tipster, the new chip will result in a 15 percent improvement in CPU performance, 59 percent improvement in GPU performance and 68 percent improvement in NPU performance over the Snapdragon 888-powered Z Fold 3.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is also expected to bring major improvements to the camera department. According to rumors, the main camera will have a 50MP sensor instead of the 12MP unit in the Z Fold 3, while the telephoto camera will get a 3x optical zoom option, up from 2x in the last-gen device. For all the upgrades, rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 could be more expensive than the Fold 3, which would be disappointing to potential buyers.
