The Claim to Fame contestant X was revealed to be M Lamar, actress Laverne Cox's identical twin brother, and he now shares his favorite fan guesses for his identity. M Lamar is the professional name of Reginald Lamar Cox, the composer, performer, and artist. He was so mysterious that his fellow Claim to Fame contestants joked that he might have been a vampire. He dressed completely in black, with black eye makeup and long black hair. During the Claim to Fame episode 1 talent show, M Lamar played the piano and sang in an operatic voice and shared with viewers that he is a composer and a performer.

Claim to Fame contestant Lark correctly guessed M Lamar's identity in episode 3, thus eliminating him from the game. The houseguests put together the clues about him, including an orange, which led his fellow contestant Dominique to believe that he might related to Laverne because she starred on Orange Is The New Black. Laverne, who is transgender, was nominated for an Emmy for her work as Sophia Burset on the show. M Lamar had played Laverne's character pre-transition on two episodes. This clue was the key that opened the door to M Lamar's identity. Other clues were that M Lamar's celebrity relative is best known for being an Emmy-winning actor. In 2015, Laverne won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Special as the executive producer for Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word. Claim to Fame episode 3 brought the clue "doppelganger," which referred to M Lamar being Laverne's twin.

In an interview with Bossip, M Lamar revealed some of his favorite Claim to Fame fan guesses about his celebrity relative. He admitted that he "tried mostly not to pay attention because I also knew there would probably be a lot of peculiar things that people would say that I didn’t need to know." However, he shared that he saw that some people thought that he might be related to musicians Lenny Kravitz or the late Prince. He said that some of his fellow contestants also confessed that they thought he was related to Prince, but he noted the height difference between him and the 5'2" singer saying, "I'm like six feet tall and maybe other people in [his] family are tall? I don’t know. He’s gorgeous and he’s a genius. So I mean, I’ll take that part; the genius part and the sexy. If I I can even be a 10th as sexy as Prince, I’ll take it."

M Lamar went on to praise Claim to Fame fans' other guess saying, "And of course, Lenny Kravitz is incredibly sexy, I’ll take that all day. I embrace all that." There was one guess that left M Lamar less than enthused: "I saw someone say Will Smith, and that’s less interesting to me for multiple reasons." However, his favorites were Lenny and Prince. He said, "But the Lenny Kravitz and the Prince thing, I play music and I’m committed to certain kind of style and aesthetic that they both embody. So yeah, that was fun."

M Lamar definitely projects an image that is similar to the artistry of both Lenny Kravitz and Prince. Claim to Fame fans noticed this and guessed accordingly. However, many also noticed his striking resemblance to Laverne because they are twins. M Lamar was a fascinating contestant to watch, and he brought the perfect air of mystery to Claim to Fame.
