Chucky creator Don Mancini shares a photo from the set of season 2, showing star Zackary Arthur with Chucky in what looks to be an exorcism.

A behind-the-scenes photo from Chucky season 2 teases that the creators may be shooting an exorcism scene. The series, which premiered on SyFy and USA in October 2021, was created by Don Mancini, who has been the mastermind behind the killer doll since his beginning. He provided the original story for 1988's Child's Play and wrote each of that film's six sequels before taking up directorial duties on the three most recent films. The new TV series, which centers around a teen's coming of age in Hackensack, New Jersey being interrupted by the arrival of the titular killer doll, stars returning Chucky performers Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, Christine Elise as Kyle, and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky. Joining them are franchise newcomers Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson.

Chucky season 2, which is due to premiere on October 5, 2022, will pick up right after the season 1 finale's twist, which revealed that there is an army of Chucky dolls ready to wreak havoc. The bulk of season 2 is set in a Catholic school, where Chucky begins a brand new reign of terror. The show is currently filming in Canada, reuniting the surviving characters and adding Lachlan Watson to the cast as Chucky and Tiffany's genderfluid child Glen/Glenda.

This week, Mancini shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the set of season 2. In the image, which was taken by Elise, Arthur is shooting a scene with the Chucky doll in the chapel of a church. With his tie whipping behind him, he is making the sign of the cross with his fingers, implying that the scene they're shooting may be an attempted exorcism on Chucky. Take a look at the photo below:

The exorcism vibes that this photo is giving off isn't necessarily explicit confirmation of what's going to happen in Chucky season 2. However, even without Arthur's choice to pose making the sign of the cross, the scene seems to be set up for something close to an exorcism. The way Chucky is lying on the plinth would certainly seem to indicate that he has been tied up to have a ritual performed upon him.

If the scene taking place is an exorcism, it is almost certain that it won't work. It would be highly unlikely that Chucky would make it quite so easy for the protagonists to defeat the titular villain. However, the scene may potentially provide an important shift in how Chucky operates, either stripping him of one particular power or accidentally giving him a whole new ability.
